Hello! Our May meeting will take place on the 17th May, 7-9pm. Venue tbc at the moment as we're looking for a bigger room...
As we're approaching the diamond Jubilee, which will be officially celebrated on the 5th June 2011, our May meeting will be (loosely) Jubilee themed.
We give props (as the youth would say) to a woman who has held the same position for the last 60 years. The only other monarch to have had a diamond jubilee was also a woman (Queen Victoria).
Check out the rainbow queen picture from Vogue magazine for a bit of queenie joy.
The activity/speaker for the meeting will be Millie Moon.
Millie Moon's is a fabric and haberdashery shop on Catherine Hill that also run workshops in various sewing techniques. If you have never been go and have a look at all the lovely rainbow colours.
We will have a corsage making session using simple sewing techniques (so please don't be scared if you aren't a regular sewist).
And there will also be a demonstration of some different sewing techniques.
The meeting is free to members and £3.00 for non members. If you join up on the night then you don't need to pay the £3.00.
We will set up a Facebook event for the meeting. If you are not on Facebook then we will email you the week before (if you haven't given us your email address please let us know: WI.frome@gmail.com).
Millie Moon's will be making up corsage packs specially for us, so we need to know numbers in advance. Therefore please could you rsvp either via Facebook or email if you'd like to attend?
It is £31.50 for annual membership payable by cash or cheque please! You can come to a maximum of 3 meetings paying as you go. Hope to see you soon!
